Langtang gonja la pass trek is 14 days in duration and will take you through the famous Langtang region along with Gonja la pass (5122m). During your trek you will also make a side trip to Tserko Ri (4984m) which will offer you the magnificent view of Langtang Himalayan range. Your trek will start with a surface travel from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi to the highest point of trek “Gonja La Pass” which finally ends at Melamchi Pul Bazar in Helambu region.

 

Overview of Langtang Ganja La Pass 

Get ready to roll on one of the best trail of Nepal if not the best. Unlike Everest and Annapurna region it is has a unique trail which offers trekkers invaluable experience to get themselves involved with the natural marvel of Langtang region. It is a region which falls in the Himalayan belt of Nepal bordering with Tibet and is located in north of Kathmandu Valley. The majority of trail comes under the protected area of Langtang National Park which covers an area of 1710 square kilometer. Langtang National park is just located 32km north of Kathmandu city and extends till Nepal and Tibet border. It was established as a National park back in 1970AD by the approval of then HMG(His Majesty’s Government) of Nepal. The park is distributed in Nuwakot,  Rasuwa and Sindhupalchowk district of Central Development Region. The climatic conditions vary greatly due to the tremendous differences of altitude which is approximately 3000m at its lowest to 7000m at its highest point.

This region is dominated by indigenous ethnic people of Nepal called Tamang. Tamangs also make up the highest population of Nepal based on ethnicity. In this region you will find many different types of monasteries with great historical importance. Perhaps the most important and historical monastery of this region is Kyanjin Gompa.  Most of the tamangs are Buddhists but equally inclined towards Hindu culture and norms.

This region is rich in bio-diversity and consists of more than 18 different types of Eco-system with the species of flora and fauna far exceeding that number. Going through the Langtang National Park is itself an extra ordinary experience as you see some of the rare species of birds and animals. This region boasts over 1000 species of plants and more than 150 species of birds and animals. The most elusive animals of this region is red panda which also on a verge of extinction. As you walk along the trails of Langtang National park you might be able to gain a sight of red panda if you are lucky enough.

This trek will be one of the best holidays you will ever make once you embark on this 14 days Langtang valley trek through the Ganja la pass. You will face the highest point on the day you do the pass. Beside from that the natural beauty, the cultural richness, the hospitality of the people of this region, some of the rarest species of birds and animals will be the major talking point of this trail.

The trek to Langtang Ganja la Pass start from Syabru Besi by flowing along the way to Langtang Valley trek until to Kyanjin Gumpa through Tibetan influence villages and peoples, Lush Valley forest includes deciduous Oak, Maple, Pine and various types of Rhododendron, Wildlife includes Himalayan black bear, the mountain goat  Himalayan tahr and Rhesus monkeys, surrounded panoramic mountain view of Langtang Lirung (7225m), Ganesh Himal (7406m), Naya Kang (5844m), Ganchempo (6387m) and Yala Peak (5500m), scenic Mountain Views point; Kyannjing Ri and Tserko Ri, Glacial moraines to Glacier and to the Langtang base camp. After Kyanjin Gumpa trail descent to Langtang River and after crossing ascend to the Ganja la Base camp (4460m) to Ganjala High Camp (4960m)and Ganjala Pass (5130m) through exploring stunning mountains view of Langtang Himalayan region and Tibetan Himalayan range as a Langtang Lirung (7225m), Naya Kang (5844m), Ganchempo (6387m), Yala Peak (5500m), Shisha Pangma (8013m). Before 200m to the top, Trail is precarious.  Therefore we use rope to get the top and for making memorial safe trip. After Ganja la Pass trail goes long descend to camp side to Yangri Kharka to Dhukpu Kharka to Helmbu trail and end at Melamchi Bazaar through crossing Naya Kang glacier, rocky Crains, several small passes, rocky stairs with lots of up and down, alpine forest , waterfall, splendid Buddhist monastery and trace fields.

Langtang Ganja la Pass trekking gives you totally wilderness adventure experience in Langtang Himalayan. Most of part of Langtang Ganja la Pass is tea house trekking, but after Kyanjin Gumpa to Tarkeghyang.  We must do camping trek, because this trek is semi camping trekking, it need well camping crew and trekking staffs for several days.
 Langtang Ganja la pass trek offers an opportunity to explore Tibetan villages, Tamang Villages, panoramic Himalayan views of the Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa, Yala peak, Naya kanga, Gaurishanker including the Annapurna Himalayan range ,to climb small peaks and to visit glaciers at a comfortably low elevations. Langtang Ganja la pass Helambu valley trekking offers an entirely wilderness and adventure experience. If you are trekking during spring the forest on the trail is colorful and blooming full of Rhododendrons.

Day 01 Arrival in Kathmandu

Our crew member will be there to pick you up from the airport and will drop you off to a hotel in Kathmandu. At evening your guide will come and meet you and give you brief information about your trip.

Day 02 Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1550m)

Basically it’s a 145 km drive from Kathmandu which will take you for about 7 hours because of the narrow and badly maintained road condition. Upon your arrival you will be arranged a lodge to spend the night.

Day 03 Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2380m)

The first day of your trek will be uphill and downhill going along the shore of Langtang river at the meantime criss-crossing suspension bridge multiple times. After about 5-6 hours of uphill and downhill trek you will finally reach lama hotel where you will spend the night in a lodge.

Day 04 Lama Hotel to Langtang Village (3430m)

After your early nutritious breakfast you will continue your trek going through the dense forest of Langtang region. After some time of steady climb you will leave the jungle behind and will enter barren landscapes with almost no trees and vegetation. You can enjoy the extraordinary view of Langtang Lirung (7227m). Overnight at lodge.

Day 05 Langtang Village to Kyanjin Gompa (3870m)

Once you are done with your breakfast you get off straight towards Kyanjin Gompa. You can see some of the yaks grazing on high pastures and the biggest stone wall of Nepal with prayers inscribed on it. As you go up high you can sense the drop in oxygen level and your breathing starts to speed up. It will take you about 4- 5 hours to reach there and will be spending the night in a lodge.

Day 06 Side trip to Tsergo Ri (5033m) and back to Gyanjin Gompa

Today you will be doing a side trip to Tsergo Ri peak before doing the pass, this trip will also help you get acclimatize. On reaching Tsergo Ri will see some of the wonderfull Langtang ranges. It would probably take 7-8 hours to make it at Tsergo Ri and back to Gyanjin Gompa and is physically challenging.

Day 07 Gyanjin Gompa to Gonja la Phedi (4300m)

On your day 07 you will continue the trail towards Gonja La phedi crossing the Langtang river. It may take you about 5- 6 hours to reach there. Your guide will arrange a room in a lodge to spend the night.

Day 08 Gonja la Phedi to Keldang(4250m) via Gonja la pass(5122m)

Today is the most important day of your trek and you should posses a strong physical and mental attitude. It will be a little longer and strenuous than other days as we ascent through the boulders, pass several small lakes until we finally reach the Gonja la highest point (5122m). You will rest for some time and head straight to keldang to spend the night.

Day 09 Keldang to Yakkharka(4000m)

You will continue the trail descending through the forest and grass lands. It will take you about 5-6 hours to reach Yakkharka. On reaching there you will be arranged a lodge to spend the night.

Day 10 Yakkharkat to Tarke Gyang(2590m)

On your day ten you will continue descending further along the similar kind of trail. You will probably lose 1500m of altitude compared to the place you stayed previous night.

Day 11 Tarke Gyang To Sermathang(2610m)

Your trek will enter Helambu region going around the side valley between Parachin and Gangyul. It will take you for about 4-5 hours to reach Sermathang. Overnight at lodge.

Day 12 Sermathang to Malemchi Pool Bazar and drive to Kathmandu.

Today is the final day of your trek as you walk through the different Sherpa villages to reach Malemchi Pool bazaar. From there onwards you will catch a local bus to Kathmandu. it will be a 3-4 hours of trek and 2 hours of drive. Overnight at Hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 13 Kathmandu Sightseeing

After the completion of successful trek you will be given a grand guided tour of Kathmandu city. The places you will be visiting in Kathmandu will be Pashupatinath, Swyambhu and Kathmandu durbar square. After your full day sightseeing you will be dropped to the hotel to spend the final night of your tour.

Day 14 Farewell day

After your remarkable trek it is your time to say final goodbye. You will be picked up from Hotel and will be driven to airport 3 hours prior to your scheduled departure.
