Annapurna Expedition

Mount Annapurna Expedition

Mount Annapurna, rising up to 8091 m (26,545 ft) above sea level, is regarded as the world’s tenth highest summit. Annapurna actually comes from a Sanskrit name meaning "full of food", translated as "goddess of the harvest". The Annapurna Range is located in the north-central region of Nepal. Annapurna is one of the most dangerous mountains to climb.

The best season for the Annapurna Expedition is during spring. The grade of climbing is hard. The Annapurna range consists of mountains like Annapurna II (7937 m), Annapurna III (7555 m), Annapurna IV (7525 m), Gangapurna (7455 m) and Annapurna South (7219 m). This area is protected by the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), which is one of the largest conservation projects in Nepal. The entire Annapurna range bounds the northern part of the beautiful Pokhara valley.
The Annapurna expedition is not only done by international tourists but also attracts local enthusiasts. It is one of the most popular expeditions in Nepal.
Historically, the Annapurna peaks have been among the world's most treacherous mountains to climb, with the particular case of the extremely steep south face of Annapurna I Main – a wall of rock that rises 3,000 meters (9,800 feet) – making it one of the most difficult climbs in the world.
