Nepal is not only made up of Himalayas and mountains as presumed by many in West. 17% of the total land of Nepal is called terai, the flat land situated in the southern belt of Nepal. Terai consists several forests and National parks which are important from the viewpoint of biodiversity and animal conservation. It is endowed with rich vegetation and rare species of animals and birds. National Parks established in this belt have played an important role in conserving animals and plants. Not only they have played in the role of conservation but they are now important tourist attractions.
