Annapurna Poon Hill Trek is very famous for short route trekking among the trekkers. It is the most often trekked route in Annapurna region. Your trip will start from Kathmandu city where you can visit some of the iconic places of Kathmandu such as Pashupatinath, Swayambhu, Kathmandu durbar Square which is all listed in World heritage list. After your day of city tour you will be driven to tikhedhunga where your actual trek starts. Overall Annapurna Poonhill trek can be called an easy one. At the end of your trek there will be a one day sightseeing in Pokhara city. There will be plenty more to catch in Pokhara as well.

 

Overview of Annapurna Poon Hill Trekking

Unlike Annapurna circuit trek, Annapurna Punnhill trek is much shorter and much easier one. This trek will take you to some of the legendary places which include Ghorepani, Ghandruk and Poon hill. Ghandruk  is the main attraction of all the places because of its rich history and culture which dates way back in the time. Gurungs are the indeginous people living in Ghandruk with their rich culture and history. Ghandruk is a small town which lies is northwest of Kathmandu and falls in Kaski district of Gandaki zone. The majority of people living there are gurungs but you can also find other ethnic groups such as Magar. It is the centre point of all the trekking trails of Annapurna region just like Namche bazaar is for Everest region. Almost every trail in Annapurna region goes through Ghandruk, you just do not want to miss it such is the importance and elegance of this place that you simply just cannot avoid it. Ghandruk offers some of the most spell bounding view of Annapurna South and Dhaulagiri in all its majesty. In fact it is not just the view that trekkers get attracted also the religion and its rich culture. Gurungs are the most dominant ethnic people found in this region along with other minority such as Magar and some lower caste of Nepalese society are also found in this little town.

 This trail offers many other beautiful places such as Ghorepani and Poonhill where Magars are the indigenous and dominant people. Indeed the very place Poon hill was named after retired British Gurkah Major Tek bahadur  Pun, it was under his initiation and financial support Punhill view point was established. Poon hill is just an hour uphill hike from Ghorepani where you can have a 360 view of almost all of the mountains found in Annapurna region. Anyone who goes there will surely feel the heavenly bliss.

All of the tourism activities in Nepal start from one single point from Kathmandu because it the only International airport in Nepal and Annapurna Punhill trek is not an exception. After your arrival in Kathmandu you will have a day of city tour where you can visit some of the hallmarks of Kathmandu city. This trek can be categorized as easy one as because you do not have to deal with high altitude.

There is a very rich amount of natural diversity & cultural variety. This trek starts from Nayapula hour car drive from Pokhara.  In the beginning of trek village life, culture, terrace view , water falls & green hills' view can be enjoyed.  Along the way the crimson rhododendron forest greets the trekker which is very eyepleasing. From Ghorepani Mt. Annapurna & Mt. Dhaulagiri Can be viewed . These are mountain over 8000m. Poon Hill offers most spectacular view of mountains peak & sun rise over Himalayas. Ghandruk village is another attraction of this trek. Ghandruk is habitation of Gurungs who are known is "Gurkhas". Gurkhas have glorious history for their contribution in Second World War.

Day 01 arrival in Kathmandu Nepal (1350m)

You will be warmly welcomed by our staff members at the airport and will be drop off to the hotel.

Day 02 Kathmandu city tour

On your second day you will be given a guided tour of Kathmandu city. The possible places you would visit may be Pashupatinath, Swayambu and Kathmandu Durbar Square which are all enlisted in UNESCO world heritage list. At the end of the day your tour guide will drop you off to the hotel.

Day 03 Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (910m)

Your trekking guide will brief you about your upcoming trek before you leave for Pokhara. After an early breakfast you will ride on a tourist bus all the way to Pokhara. It is basically 5-6 hours of journey. On reaching Pokhara you will be then drop off to a hotel in pokhara to spend the night

Day 04 Drive from Pokhara to Tikhedhunga (1570m)

It probably takes about 5 hours from pokhara to Nayapool(1093m) from there your trek begins. On your way to tikhedhunga you will cross Madi river and after 1-2 hours you reach tiKhedhunga where you will spend the night.

Day 05 Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2850m)

On your day five you will trek steep uphill on a stone carved stair all the way to Ulleri village where most of the villagers are magars. After 7-8 hours of trek you will finally reach Ghorepani to spend the night.

Day 06 Ghorepani to Poonhill (3210m) to Tadapani (2610m)

Today you get up early in the morning before the sun rise and hike uphill towards Punhill to see the sunrise panorama. You will have a breathtaking 360 degree view of Annapurna1-4, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Machhapuchhre etc. After the sun finally rise you can have bit of photo sessions and hike downhill towards Ghorepani. After having breakfast in Ghorepani. You will trek straight towards Tadapani where you will spend the night.

Day 07 Tadapani to Ghandruk (1951m)

Today the trek will be relatively shorter and easier as you will be walking down hill all the way to Ghandruk. You will probably reach Ghandruk in 3-4 hours by early afternoon where you can have lunch. After your lunch your guide will take you through this little town. After the tour of Ghandruk you will head straight back to lodge to spend the night.

Day 08 Ghandruk to Nayapool to Pokhara

You start early today after 1hour of downhill trek most of the trail is flat. After just 3-4 hours you will reach Nayapool from where you will be transferred to Pokhara by vehicle.

Day 09 Pokhara sight seeing

After you grab your breakfast you will be visiting some of the best tourist attraction places like Phewa lake, Davis fall and International mountain museum. Three places you visit will almost cover your day. After your city tour is complete you will be heading back to hotel to spend the night.

Day 10 Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu & farewell day

After an early breakfast you will get in a Tourist coach directed to Kathmandu. It will take for about 6-7 hours when you reach Kathmandu. Your guide will drop you off to the hotel. You are free for the evening and can spend the night at your will. After your memorable tour you will probably be eager to get back to your normal life. Our staff member will drop you off to the airport 3 hours prior to your departure time.
